Hello, viewers! This is Draculaura, posting another deadblog update! I'm proud to say that after weeks of training, and training, and training, and TRAINING, I've finally gotten that badge everyone told me to get!

[As you may or may not see, she's standing in front of the Violet City Gym, proudly holding the badge in her pale fingers. Eye Candy the Golbat and Pop the Drifblim are by her side.]

And now that I've gotten the badge, I can Fly anywhere I want! All right, guys!

[She holds onto Golbat's foot, and Drifblim's... tether?]

Fly me straight to Goldenrod, so we can shop until we drop! Away we go! ... Up, up, and away! ... Use Fly Attack!

[... Golbat and Drifblim awkwardly eye each other.]

... Come on, guys, this will make for a great post! Fly me away! Go! ... Please? ... Pretty please?

[The Pokemon shrug what counts for shoulders, mumbling in their own language. Who wants to explain about HMs?]

Not quite. You do need that badge for it to work, but unless they know the move Fly, you won't be able to use them to travel to another town.

It won't be, once you teach them Fly. You just need to get the HM for it first.

[WELP. Time to learn her a thing.]

It's stands for Hidden Machine. They're disks that if you...uh...break them on a Pokemon's head they'll learn the move if they're able to, and if you piece them together again you can repeat the process with a different Pokemon. Technical Machines are one-time use versions.

I know, it sounds really weird.

[HE HATES TO BE THE BEARER OF BAD NEWS, BUT...actually, he doesn't really care. But anyway.]

You'll get the HM for Fly once you've beaten the Cianwood gym leader. ...Cianwood, however, is past Ecruteak with Olivine between the two cities. You will also need a Pokemon who can Surf to get to Cianwood from Olivine anyway.

Either way, even if you did have a Pokemon with Fly right now, you can only Fly to towns you've visited already that your Pokemon know how to get to.

Only one town is between Violet and Goldenrod. If that is where you want to go, it would be less trouble to just travel on the routes.

If you have a Pokemon that's large enough, you could ride on it on the ground. You don't necessarily need a move to do that.

I don't have any Pokemon big enough for that. That's why I thought I'd need to hang on to two of them when we flew!

Chuck is the Gym Leader that hands those out with his badge. He's in Cianwood, which is, um...just about on the other side of the region. Though if you know anyone else that has the HM, you could easily use theirs.

... All the way over there?

A lot of Pokemon get large enough for that when they evolve, it just takes time. And it depends on what species you have.

...as for flying, if the Pokemon can learn Fly, you technically can fly with it regardless of its size. I just can't promise they would appreciate the effort.
