 Hiii everyone! This is Draculaura! Normally I'd deadblog with a video, but I'm at work. Can you believe they're making me work on a holiday AND my birthday??? SO MEAN. :( But I'm gunna celebrate my birthday anyway! Bought myself some REALLY cute eggs, can't wait until they all hatch!!! Maybe we'll have the same b-day???

BUT!!! That's what I'm here to say! It's my birthday! I'm 1,601 years old! I feel so mature now! And it's also the big V-day! Where I'm from, the two are connected! See, this guy I used to date, Valentine, made the holiday for me!

Yeah I know he named it after himself, I didn't know he was a jerk until wayyy later X_X

ANYWAY!!! I wanted to know, since you guys are from different places, how did Valentine's day get invented for you??? Did it have to do with a vampire named Valentine who broke girls hearts after stealing them? Or is there a REALLY GOOD story there? Tell me so I can read on my break!!!

Okay I'll try to make this clear, but the belief systems behind it have been extinct for a long time so it might be muddled.

There's not one person named Valentine, but several people. Some were killed for their beliefs and made into saints. Later on G. Chaucer started writing poetry about love on the feast of Saint Valentine's day, and somehow that snowballed into everyone giving each other cards and making up these stories about Valentine that weren't really true, like he was a crusader for love or something like that. Nobody actually knows what the real Saint Valentine was like or how it all ended up being about love.

I hope he wasn't like the guy you're talking about. I don't *think* those saints were vampires anyway, but it's hard to tell if nobody then could keep their information straight.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. Happy birthday!
